Before Factions was released I already predicted "No long". PvP is handicapping PvE, period.

No it isn't smart one.
A leech is a noun, however the word "leech" is being used as a verb here... ie "leeching". Therefore they are "leechers" not "leeches"...

Their inability to address leechers is the only major strike I hold against ArenaNet.
I really don't understand it. If I was on the Factions dev team, I'd be pissed that leechers are ruining what I spent so much time creating and polishing. I'd have been working on a solution from the moment I noticed the problem.

I would like to see a voting system, where the whole group could "vote kick" someone from the team and that person would be replaced by a hench.
This voting system should only be available in the random team battles.

I fail not to cringe at your argument. But I do not fail to laugh at it.

There's a simple solution to the problem, employed in tons of other games: making no action for a minute gets you kicked. The only real way around this would be using a bot, which can be detected. But I guess Anet has better things to work on...

Why don't they just make some sort of a pre-battle warmup for 2 reasons.
1)You don't sit there watching the countdown timer 5 times in a row and nearly passing out each time it restarts.
2) If you don't participate in the warmup activity, you port back and timer starts over again to get another team.
This could be any stupid thing to make you move you character or type in something random. Like a game of Simon Says or something.
Simon says /beg.
Simon says/Dance.
Jump.
Simon says the "noob" is out.
Maybe they could implement some games of chance or have sparring warmups. Possibly make some dummy chest runs for warm up.
Leeches or leechers or whatever you guys decided to call them, are a hard target to get removed but as long as they are consistent between sides e.g. kurz have 2 leeches, luxon have 1 or visa versa, it is just part of what we are dealing with as players.
Also i completely disagree with the team idea because,
a) I hardly ever PVP because i don't like having to wait and get groups together and make sure they are just right with the perfect dynamic, just to get destroyed by a bunch of people who PvP constantly. That is why they have arenas for those people.
b)The randomness is the whole reason i enjoy fighting these battles. Both teams are just as well handicapped with lack of preparation. These battles are the PvE players escape from running with henchies all of the time.

What is the point in making these missions and arenas, only to have them ruined over and over again by leechers?
Very few things annoy me with Guild Wars, I think it is a great game, but leeching in Fort Aspenwood is making the whole place useless.
If ANET will not address this issue, its up to us to start making anet suffer, because they have a duty to ensure we are not paying for stuff that gets ruined by their lack of concern.
I have screenshots of different teams showing up on my bar, with the same individual standing at the res shrine having not moved, how is this not proof of leeching? And why wont Anet take action?
I tell you they will regret not taking action when people lose interest in playing because of anets consistantly lacking stance whenever it comes to anything other than skill balance or farming.
People do not want to play a game where a good portion of their team is AFK or standing around doing nothing, game after game after game.
Sort it the hell out, or the game wont be worth playing. Its that simple.

Right so how do you sort out who is a leecher and who isn't, based on a set of characteristics that can be automatically examined by a computer system to handle the removal of leechers from your group or the zone. There in lies the problem.
Who wants a system were if you are inactive for a minute you get kicked, that is hardly a solution. I mean wouldn't it be fun to be in the middle of a trade and be kicked because you were waiting for the other party to complete a trade, or you get kicked while reading the text that is presented by an npc. That is hardly something I would want. I would find it hard to believe that the time constraint on these "other" games are so low.

Do you have some reading comprehension problems ? This thread is about leechers in competitive missions, not about kicking ppl for standing AFK in outposts.
And yes, a certain "other" game which I won't name here has the leecher/leaver problem completely solved: if you stand around for too long, you are kicked and a waiting player jumps into the instance for you. Simple. Effective.
